Ukraine’s special operation against illegal migrants who may try to enter the country from Belarus is explained by Kiev’s desire to show its importance and solidarity with Europe. This was announced on November 24 by a member of the Federation Council Sergei Tsekov.
According to the politician, there is no big difference in living in Iraq and Ukraine, therefore, refugees from the Middle East are unlikely to want to move to this state.
The imaginary threat from migrants was invented by Kiev solely to raise the image of its country, as well as to divert public attention from internal problems.
“The Ukrainian authorities, in turn, what is happening provides a good opportunity to divert the attention of the people from internal socio-economic problems that are accumulating like a snowball,” he is quoted as saying “Lenta.ru“.
Currently, Ukraine is torn apart by internal conflicts and there is talk of resistance within the country. Therefore, the authorities are turning society’s attention to another problem in order to prevent a catastrophe. The situation on the Belarusian-Polish border came in handy, he concluded.
Earlier on Wednesday, Ukraine launched a special operation “Polesie” on the border with Belarus in order to prevent the migration crisis. The operation is coordinated by the Border Guard and is being carried out jointly with the National Guard, the National Police, the armed forces and other deployed reserves.
As Oleg Gaidukevich, deputy chairman of the Belarusian parliamentary commission on international affairs, said in an interview with Izvestia, Ukraine never posed a threat from Belarus. However, he positively assessed the strengthening of the border by Kiev, since all the problems, according to him, are just coming from the Ukrainian side.
On November 12, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky announced that the country would strengthen the border with Belarus with units of military personnel and police officers. He said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs aviation will also operate at the border – 15 helicopters.
