Senator of the Federation Council Klimov considered Ukraine’s statement about the counteroffensive a PR stunt
Ukraine’s statement about the impending counter-offensive in the south of the country is a PR stunt, according to Federation Council Senator Andrei Klimov. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, he stressed that counteroffensives are never reported in advance, because the most important thing here is the effect of surprise.
Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk called on Ukrainians to leave the south of the Kherson region, Reuters became aware of this. According to the official, this must be done because of the upcoming “counteroffensive”, she recommended that women and children especially listen to their words.
“The main thing is the effect of surprise”
“I don’t work in the General Staff and in military intelligence, but I know for sure that when a counteroffensive is being prepared, the whole world is not informed about it, because the most important thing is the surprise effect,” Klimov said. “At least, this has been the case for all previous millennia of military art. As for desire [президента Украины Владимира] Zelensky to free everything and everyone from it is not clear who, then he has been talking about this for a long time.”
The senator believes that everything Zelensky does is PR. According to Klimov, such a statement could be made in order to get more support from Western countries.
“At the same time, this does not mean that there will be no attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They may be, but for this we have a general staff and command on the territory of the theater of operations, ”concluded the politician.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said that Vladimir Zelensky had given the order to recapture the south of the country, which is under the control of Russian military personnel. According to the minister, Kyiv has about a million fighters, including the National Guard and the border service, to complete the task.
