According to him, the main criterion for transferring apartments to the status of housing will be the safety of living, therefore, the constructed apartments that meet safety requirements will receive the status of residential premises.
The senator explained that the construction of the apartments that had begun will be continued, no one will stop him. He stressed that utilities for Russian apartments will be defined as for non-residential premises. After the status has been settled, apartment owners will not receive subsidies and compensation for housing and utilities.
Also, the multifunctional houses where the apartments are located will not be subject to the issues of recognizing them as emergency or subject to demolition.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting of the State Council and the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects, instructed the government to determine the legal status of the apartments and amend the legislation accordingly. Putin ordered the changes to be made by August 1, 2021.
