The crimes committed by the televangelist Adnan Oktar are much more complex than scams for large sums of money. In January 2021, this famous Turkish Islamist He was sentenced to 1,075 years in prison for the crimes of sexual abuse, sexual abuse of minors, fraud, and attempted political and military espionage.

“Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and many other famous terrorists all clearly say that they have been under the influence of Darwin,” Oktar said in an interview for ‘BBC Mundo’ in 2010, in which he related European 20th-century fascism to the Theory of Evolution, even if Darwin’s ideas precisely defended genetic diversity over maintaining a ‘pure race’.

Despite his anti-Semitic and Holocaust denier comments, he has been seen in meetings with right-wing groups in Israel, which advocate the violent occupation of Palestine. He even had meetings with former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. However, there is no evidence that Oktar has links to the Jewish community in Turkey, instead, it speaks exclusively of interreligious cooperation with Jews in Israel.

Adnan Oktar, along with 13 other members of his organization, were arrested for attempted espionage, sexual abuse and abuse of minors, in investigations that spill over into Turkish politicians as well. He was sentenced to 1075 years in prison. Tarkan Yavas and Oktar Babuna, managers of his organization, were sentenced to 211 and 186 years, respectively.
