The commander of the Northern Fleet, Hero of Russia, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, handed over to the family of Captain Yevgeny Kozlovsky, who at the cost of his life during a special operation to defend Donbass, the star of the Hero of Russia and a certificate of conferring the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. The ceremony of handing over the award to the relatives of the serviceman took place at the headquarters of the Northern Fleet.
It was also attended by the chief of staff of the fleet, Rear Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, the commander of the army corps, Major General Boris Fomichev, the deputy governor of the Murmansk region, Eric Khismatullin, as well as the hero’s colleagues, Yunarmiya and North Sea naval cadets.
The commander of the Northern Fleet expressed condolences to the widow and parents of Yevgeny Kozlovsky and thanked them for raising the hero.
“The feat of Captain Kozlovsky is an example of the fulfillment of military duty, an example of serving one’s Fatherland. He fulfilled his military duty to the end, was faithful to the oath until the last second of his life. He led his subordinates into battle by personal example, showing the highest professionalism and courage, ”said Moiseev.
The head of the personnel department of the Northern Fleet, Rear Admiral Gennady Demkov, read out a description of the feat of Captain Evgeny Kozlovsky and announced the Decree of the President of Russia on conferring on him the highest title – Hero of Russia.
Captain Evgeny Valeryevich Kozlovsky was born at the Verbensky state farm in the Nikolaev district of the Volgograd region. Graduated from the Novosibirsk Higher Military Command School. He participated in the special operation from April 2022, commanded a company of a separate motorized rifle brigade of the Northern Fleet.
June 29. the enemy took counterattack actions, concentrating significant reserves using heavy weapons and armored vehicles. Showing personal courage and bravery, the fighters under the command of Kozlovsky repulsed the enemy attack, destroying over 20 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). After that, the enemy began a massive shelling of the positions of the company. Then Kozlovsky was slightly wounded, but continued to command the unit.
When a soldier was choosing a place for a firing position, he came under repeated fire from enemy artillery, as a result of which he received a severe wound incompatible with life.
The heroism of the officer and the brave actions of his subordinates made it possible to hold a strategically important foothold, destroy seven armored vehicles of Ukrainian nationalists, 10 off-road vehicles of various modifications, 12 firing points with their crews, as well as over 270 military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
