Head of the Sleep Medicine Department of I.M. Sechenov, doctor-somnologist Mikhail Poluektov in an interview with TASS revealed a factor that can greatly reduce the effect of vaccination against coronavirus.
According to the specialist, lack of sleep can affect vaccinations. In particular, sleep problems can damage your immune system. “At least this has already been proven with regard to influenza vaccination and hepatitis A vaccination,” Poluektov said.
The doctor also recalled that there are a lot of studies that prove that lack of sleep significantly increases the risk of infection. Thus, he stressed, there is a direct link between sleep and immunity.
“During sleep, strengthening, restoration of immunity occurs,” the agency’s interlocutor said, noting that lack of sleep, in particular, affects certain indicators of immunity: for example, when sleep time is limited, the production of T-lymphocytes, which are involved in the process of cellular immunity, is disrupted.
Earlier, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Pathology of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Nadezhda Zuikova, revealed a way to get rid of the fear of vaccination.
