Apple’s Formula 1 film has a release date of June 25, 2025, as the production continues filming 2024 F1 events after delays caused by last year’s Hollywood actors’ strike.
The as-yet-untitled film is directed by Joseph Kosinski following the success of “Top Gun: Maverick” and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and was scheduled for release in June next year.
Now the release date in cinemas around the world has been confirmed, after which it will be available on Apple TV.
The film will be available in international markets on June 25, 2025, ahead of a North American release two days later on June 27, 2025.
An F1 press release announcing the film’s release dates states that: “The global theatrical release will also include IMAX theatres.”
“The crystal-clear images, combined with the custom geometry of the IMAX theater and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel like they are in the movie.”
The film stars Brad Pitt as a former F1 driver who returns to action to race for the fictional APXGP team alongside a rookie driver played by Damson Idris.

Seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is a producer on the project and the Mercedes driver also participated in writing the film’s screenplay.
Speaking at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix, Hamilton revealed that last year’s strike – called by SAG-AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) in response to a number of issues, including the use of film studios’ AI technology instead of real actors – caused filming of key scenes from that event to be cancelled.
“If there hadn’t been the strike, we would have shot one of the greatest scenes here this weekend,” Hamilton said in Las Vegas.
“But we will continue filming next year, so you will still see them around. We already have some great footage, they did a great job, as all the F1 drivers could see in Austin (2023).”
“We will continue to make progress. It will still be great, it might cost a little more but I’m really confident in what Jerry will produce.”
Hamilton also explained that during the strike filming of some F1 2023 races continued involving only “the stunt crew”, while the emphasis was placed on gathering footage of the event setting and atmosphere. races.

Work on the project has continued in recent weeks using the Formula 2 car that Mercedes modified with the colors of the APXGP, including at the Silverstone circuit when it hosted the launch of the Conservative Party’s manifesto for the upcoming general elections of the Kingdom United.
F1’s press release states that production of the film “will continue at this year’s British GP and several other races, concluding with the Abu Dhabi GP in December.”
It has been suggested that the other races where filming will take place during the season will be Hungary, Belgium, Mexico and Las Vegas, while filming has already taken place at the Japanese race in April.
There’s also new interest in the film’s final budget, which some reports suggest would have risen to over $300 million, making it one of the most expensive ever made.
In part, this is due to the pause in filming caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike, as footage taken during the 2023 F1 events featured car designs, liveries and sponsor logos that no longer match their respective 2024 updates .
