Due to his characteristics and his leadership as a footballer, Thomas Boy received the nickname of ‘The boss’ and on November 12, 2019, he was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame.

Thomas Boy played as an attacking midfielder and made his professional football debut at the age of 19 with the Athletic Spanish between 1970-1974, later played in 1974-1975 in the Atletico Potosino.
But his best moment was undoubtedly his period with the Tigres UANL between 1975-1988, playing 413 games and becoming a historical player of the club, being a captain and a reference, in addition to being the institution’s second highest historical scorer with 104 annotations. .

He was part of the Mexican team between 1979 and 1988 playing 52 games and scoring nine goals, being surprisingly left out of the squad for the 1978 World Cup and later being appointed captain of the team that participated in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
The Aztec team that participated in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico is considered one of the best in history and is the last to reach the quarterfinals in a World Cup tournament.
As a coach, he was on the bench for ten different teams in Mexico and one in the United States between the 1980s and 2020. Despite not having won the Liga MX championship, he was recognized for his effectiveness in keeping teams with percentage problems to place them in competitive positions.
