The repeated course of the coronavirus disease in 70% of cases passes with the same severity as the first time, if you do not get vaccinated. This was announced on October 27 by the head of the laboratory of mechanisms of population variability of pathogenic microorganisms of the Center. Gamalei Vladimir Gushchin.
“There are people who were very sick. And very often, unfortunately, these people get seriously ill again. In only 30% of people do we see a decrease in severity. 70% of people, unfortunately, if they are not vaccinated, get sick with approximately the same severity as they were initially sick, “he said live within the framework of the campaign” Let’s Understand Vaccines Together “organized by the” Knowledge “society together with the All-Russian promotion # We areTogether.
Gushchin noted that people who have undergone COVID-19 in moderate severity, but also clinically pronounced, maintain immunity for a relatively long period of time.
“Such people form immunity, and, in principle, their immunity is longer and more pronounced. People who are sick with symptoms, unfortunately, their immunity is washed out very quickly, ”the specialist said.
Earlier, Gushchin noted that a new variant of the delta strain of coronavirus AY.4.2 does not cause concern, since it spreads much more slowly than the delta itself. He clarified that AY.4.2 is “actually one of the delta’s child lines.” According to Gushchin, such a mutation was able to spread in the UK by only 10% in four months.
On the same day, Gushchin said that a person can remain a carrier of coronavirus for more than a year, several such cases are known. He noted that such people need to be identified and preferably treated so that they cease to be chronic carriers as soon as possible, because in such patients the virus gets some opportunity to additionally rapidly evolve.
Prior to that, Ph.D. Elen Mkhitaryan said that the coronavirus is capable of initiating the onset of Alzheimer’s disease in those people who have a predisposition to it. She said that in the past year, 42 thousand more Americans with Alzheimer’s disease died than there were years earlier. In addition, in the “covid era”, the number of people who began to manifest forms of dementia increased dramatically.
Against the backdrop of a worsening epidemiological situation, the Russian authorities are urging residents to get vaccinated in order to protect their health and take care of their loved ones. Citizens are vaccinated for free. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
