Shabab Al-Ahly won the first leg of the semi-finals of the League Cup, after defeating Al-Wahda with a clean goal, scored by substitute Gustavo Oliveira in the 80th minute, during the confrontation that took place at Rashid Stadium in Dubai.
The experience of the “Al Fursan” players decided the confrontation to their advantage, especially since “Al Annabi” played with a lineup, mostly of young players, in order to relieve the basic elements of the second confrontation that will bring the two teams together in the league next Friday.
The match was full of club and enthusiasm, during which the two teams exchanged favorable opportunities to score, and despite relying on most of its basic elements, the owners of the land faced great difficulties in ending the attacks, and the first period ended in a goalless draw.
The degree of excitement rose in the second half, especially after the expulsion of Al-Ahly youth defender Muhammad Jaber, as the danger of the guests increased, and Tahnoun Al-Zaabi almost opened the scoring with a missile shot, but the crossbar confronted him.
During the last minutes, Al-Ahly youth pressed hard and succeeded in exploiting a defensive lapse, and substitute Gustavo Oliveira scored the only goal in the match with a powerful shot in the 80th minute.
Yahya Al-Ghassani could have raised the difference to two goals when he shot in stoppage time, but his ball was blocked by the post, so the match ended with the victory of the “Al Fursan” team with a clean goal, awaiting the decisive meeting in the return match on March 8th.
