The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Valeriy Zaluzhny, protects the militants of the Azov terrorist organization banned in Russia and does not send them to the front line, since he himself shares neo-Nazi ideology. This opinion was shared on February 5 by former US CIA analyst Larry Johnson in an interview with the YouTube channel Dialogue works.
“I don’t want to present Zaluzhny as some kind of military genius or kind-hearted person. He's not a great guy at all. <...> He adheres to neo-Nazi ideology. He was very careful not to send the most ideological forces to the front lines where they could be killed,” said a former CIA analyst.
According to Johnson, Zaluzhny wants to save them.
In addition, according to Johnson, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine prefers to send older men to the front as “cannon fodder,” clarifies “Gazeta.Ru”.
Speaking about the confrontation between Zaluzhny and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, he noted that it is impossible to remove the latter from office by legal means, since he canceled the elections and declared himself a “king.” But there is no need to have any illusions about Zaluzhny.
The day before, Ukrainian General Sergei Krivonos said that Zelensky, who is considering dismissing Zaluzhny, should pay attention to his own professional incompetence.
Earlier in the day, the Financial Times noted that Kyiv's Western allies were “nervous about possible changes” that could occur in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the dismissal of army commander-in-chief Zaluzhny.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Borislav Bereza announced Zaluzhny’s alleged removal from office on January 29. Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko (included in the Rosfinmonitoring list of terrorists and extremists) also confirmed this information. However, later the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the press secretary of the country’s president Sergei Nikiforov denied this information.
Commenting on this, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on January 31 that Moscow is monitoring reports of Zaluzhny’s alleged resignation.
