The 2022 Nobel Prize for Literature is annie ernauxa French writer, professor of modern letters, who sHe has been inspired by his own life to write the prolific list of books that he has developed since his adolescence.
One of his most famous works is “The event”an autobiographical work in which Ernaux tells the story of an abortion that happened in the 1960s, a student woman discovers that she is pregnant, from the first moment she knows that she does not want to be a mother, but things are not easy for her.
He recounts his position in a country where abortion is illegalin addition to the fact that the man who impregnates her leaves her alone in this situation. It recounts the horror and journey of going through a clandestine abortion more than 50 years ago.
At 82 years old, Ernaux was awarded for “the courage and clinical acuity with which he discovers the roots, distances and collective restrictions of personal memory”said the Nobel jury; however, for the writer this is far from reality, since she assures that “It’s not bravery, it’s necessity”.
