Sinkevicius meets with Hugo Morán and calls for greater collaboration between administrations
The European Commissioner for the Environment, Virginijus Sinkevicius, urged the Spanish authorities on Thursday to work “closely” and take “additional steps” to protect the Mar Menor.
This was stated by the commissioner on his Twitter account after a meeting with the Secretary of State for the Environment, Hugo Morán. Sinkevicius, who already met a week ago with the regional president Fernando López Miras, indicated that in the case of the Mar Menor “it will be necessary to implement European legislation on water and nature.” The Lithuanian politician already visited the area at the beginning of September, after the anoxia that caused the second episode of massive fish mortality.
