This Wednesday, August 11 Gustavo Cerati would be 62 years old, and it is still strange that the verb must be conjugated in the conditional; as if his physical absence was nothing more than a whim of fate that the eternal presence of their songs could counteract.
If there is any truth that an artist remains eternal in his work, in the case of the former leader of Soda Stereo it seems that, in addition, the influence of his legacy expands in multiple directions, as if it were those stains that inexorably advance to stain everything they reach.
From the validity of the songs of the most influential Latin pop / rock band to the refinement of their albums conceived “alone”, through their electronic experimentations and their sidereal journey with Daniel Melero, the Cerati satellite continues to orbit around our senses, piloted from beyond by one of the huge artists that gave our music.

Of course, also encouraged by new pieces that are being incorporated into that sonic universe that integrates the planets of the almost naive pop of the first Soda, the symphonism of Puff, rock to the handle of Here we go and the unstable balance of Dream Stereo revolving around its creative core.
Birthday with premiere
In this plan, now, just to coincide with a new “birthday” of Gustavo Cerati, the unpublished video clip of I do not believe you, one of the songs that make up the album list Always is today (2002), filmed in 2004, around the time of the tour Chosen songs.
There appears Gustavo playing in Unison, his studio, with the band that accompanied him at that time, made up of Fernando Nalé on bass, Leandro Fresco and Flavio Etcheto on keyboards, and Pedro Moscuzza on drums.
Nicolás Bernaudo, who at the time joined this tour as an audiovisual designer, proposed to film Gustavo with the group playing and thus have exclusive material to project on the stage screen. So the filmmakers Diego Panich and Lemon were summoned to take over the direction.
17 years later, we worked on this new edition with a video clip format, which is now premiering this audiovisual piece that returns from the screen to a suggestive Cerati with a deep look, surrounded by a team of rare new sounds, in this constant search for novelty.
According to Bernaudo, “I made a proposal for all the visuals of the tour and one of the ideas was to make a video with his giant face, synchronized with any of the songs. Cerati countered that I go with the whole band on screen, so I called Panich, who was working with Lemon at the time, and between the two of them they directed the clip, which was filmed in the rehearsal room ”.

Panich remembers that, “the only condition that Cerati put was that we had to do it quickly, without a great display, so we went with the camera and just a couple of lights. We did very few takes of the subjectmaybe four. “
“The particularity – he adds – is that the video is in slow motion and everything has synchro; the trick is that the band played the playback at double speed. It is very difficult and cumbersome to do, but Gustavo and the band were taken with the idea and did everything without drama ”.
In turn, Lemon says that, “Everything we asked of him he grabbed in a second. It had a magic that I will not forget anymore. It was an experience that I am grateful for having lived ”.
The publication of the new video clip adds a new boost to the musician’s presence on YouTube, a platform in which interest in songs like Sudestada and Promise zone, in this case in the version that joined it to Mercedes Sosa on the album Singer.
It also aroused great interest its episode within the National Geographic BIOS cycle of which some fragments can be enjoyed on the station’s YouTube channel.
