What did Trump say? Former US President Donald Trump said Biden was an “enemy of the state”.
Trump’s comments came, Saturday evening, during an election rally in Pennsylvania, in preparation for the midterm elections in the US Congress, according to Agence France-Presse.
This is Trump’s first public appearance since the FBI search of his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, in early August.
The Republican billionaire denounced the inspection process, and considered it “a blatant example of real threats to the freedom of Americans” and “one of the most horrific abuses of power by any administration in American history”, indicating that Biden was the one who masterminded the matter.
The former president also again questioned the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to Biden. “The American elections must be decided by the American people,” Trump said. “It didn’t happen that way in 2020.”
Trump came to Wilkes Barre, a small town near Scranton, Biden’s hometown, to support Republican candidates in the upcoming midterm elections on November 8, notably Mehmet Oz, a doctor who has become a star on the small screen.
What did Biden say?
The current US President, Joe Biden, posted a video on his Twitter account, on Saturday night, in which he said that he does not consider any of Trump’s supporters a threat to the state.
He added, “I think that anyone who advocates the use of violence and does not condemn violence when it is used, refuses to acknowledge when you win elections, and insists on changing the way we govern (…), this is a threat to democracy.”
“Everything we do depends on the platform of democracy, and those who threaten that platform, threaten the soul of this nation,” Biden said in a description attached to the video.
In a speech in Philadelphia in support of Democratic Party candidates, Biden called for saving the “spirit of America”, sharply criticizing those he said “do not respect the Constitution”, “do not believe in the rule of law” and “do not recognize the will of the people.”
