The employer CEOE has announced the signing of Jaime Alfonsín, former head of the King’s House, as “an advisor attached to the president to coordinate his advisory council in the development of the strategic axes of the organization of companies.”
Alfonsín is a state lawyer and recognized jurist, according to the statement sent CEOE. He has held positions of great relevance both in the public sector and in the legal area of banking companies or law firms. In addition, he has been a law professor at the European Union in ICADE and Fiscal Law at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
Felipe VI dismissed Alfonsín last January. The one who was his right hand for three decades was handled in the Royal House as a “private advisor” without salary. The new head of the Royal House is Camilo Villarino, current director of the Cabinet of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
Felipe VI chose the successor of Alfonsín a few months before the tenth anniversary of his reign was fulfilled. Its purpose was to open a new stage and valued positively during the election that the new head of the King’s house had extensive international experience as a diplomat and that he would have worked for foreign ministers of both the PP and the PSOE.
Since Antonio Garamendi assumed the presidency of the employer, several former public office have been hired by CEOE. Fatima Báñez, responsible for the Employment of the PP during the government of Mariano Rajoy, joined the foundation of the employer to manage a collaboration project between companies before the COVID-19 crisis and was promoted to president of the Foundation.
They have also been hired by the José Luis Ayllón business organization, deputy with the PP and who was head of the president’s cabinet, as director of the new Department of Public Affairs and Relations with the Courts, and Iñigo Fernández de Mesa, who was Secretary of State of Economy in the Ministry of Luis de Guindos, as president of the Institute of Economic Studies (IEE), Employer Studies Center.
In Barceló and Iberdrola
Together with his new advisor position for the Spanish employer, Alfonsín has also signed for the Barceló group, a Spanish multinational company based in Palma de Mallorca dedicated to the tourism sector.
Last December, the Iberdrola Foundations Committee also appointed Alfonsín new president of the organ, from which the activities of the different foundations of the group in the countries in which it is present (mainly, Spain, United Kingdom, United Kingdom, the United States , Brazil and Mexico).
