The Emirati field hospital in the city of Umm Djeres in Chad continues to receive patients from our Sudanese refugee brothers in the Republic of Chad and members of the local community of all categories, who receive its therapeutic and medical services around the clock.
Since its opening on July 9, the hospital has received more than 18,854 sick cases from men, women, and children from Sudanese refugees and members of the local community, at a rate of 80 patients per day.
The hospital's medical team performed more than 389 surgeries, ranging from simple, medium, and serious, of various types, such as bones, nerves, and general surgeries.
The field hospital was established based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him.” It works in joint cooperation between three humanitarian institutions in the UAE, which are the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, and the Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation. Al Nahyan for Humanitarian Work, within the framework of the humanitarian, relief and medical support provided by the UAE to the Sudanese brothers affected by the current conditions in their country, and in support of the friendly Republic of Chad, to mitigate the effects of the humanitarian situation resulting from the influx of large numbers of Sudanese refugees.
The Emirati humanitarian team present in the city of Umm Jars made an inspection tour of the hospital to check on the patients’ conditions, provide them with psychological support, and follow up on their health conditions.
The team's tour included all the hospital's departments and equipment, during which it listened to an explanation from the medical staff about the progress of operational operations, in addition to its future needs if the number of visitors increases.
Jassim Al Naqbi, representative of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, said that the tour came as part of the team’s continuous efforts to check on the progress of work in the hospital and ensure the quality and integrity of its services, indicating that the hospital has achieved, thanks to God Almighty and then thanks to the great support of our wise leadership, a good reputation that is not Not only in the city of Umm Djeres, but also throughout the Republic of Chad, due to the distinctive and advanced therapeutic services it provides and the successes it has achieved in treating the patients who come to it. He pointed out that many patients go through the trouble of traveling from areas hundreds of kilometers away in order to seek treatment in the hospital.
Al-Naqbi added that the continuous humanitarian and relief assistance provided by the UAE to the Sudanese brothers displaced to Chad since the beginning of the crisis in their country and to the local community in the city of Umm Jars, reflects the UAE’s firm approach to responding to the needs of brotherly and friendly peoples in times of adversity, crises and disasters.
He stressed that the state was keen to provide the hospital with an integrated Emirati medical team, pointing out that the hospital's capacity was recently increased to 70 beds instead of 50, with the possibility of increasing the number to 100 beds when needed.
For their part, the hospital’s visitors expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to the UAE for its support and provision of health care to them, noting that the establishment of this hospital came at the right time and place, especially for refugees from the Republic of Sudan.
They praised the distinguished health services provided to them and the professionalism of the medical staff who provided them with care from their arrival to the hospital until their departure, which encouraged many from different regions in Chad to come to the Emirati field hospital.
It is worth noting that the hospital includes surgical operating rooms qualified to perform various types of surgeries, including general surgery, trauma and neurosurgery, intensive care rooms, an anesthesia department, and specialized clinics including internal medicine, orthopedics, family medicine, and gynecology, as well as supportive medical services.

The hospital consists of three main areas, including the red zone (emergency department), which is designated for treating critical cases that require immediate and rapid intervention. It is equipped with the latest X-ray and television equipment and other precise devices.
The second zone is the yellow zone, where non-critical or moderate cases are treated, and the third zone is the green zone designated for daily use of receiving patients and visitors who are presented to the general physician and then referred to the specialist if their medical condition requires it.
