SOS Children’s Villages, Educo, Doctors of the World, Oxfam Intermón, Plan International and World Vision are the 6 NGOs that form it
Ukraine and its citizens need help from around the world in the face of the Russian invasion and the Emergency Committee has launched its fundraising protocols to support the actions of the member NGOs. The objective is to help a country that is rapidly deteriorating and whose impact on the civilian population is being devastating when barely a week has passed since the attacks began.
677,000 people have left Ukraine for neighboring countries since the Russian invasion began, according to data provided by the UN, and it is feared that this figure will continue to increase dramatically with the passing of days and the intensification of the bombing. Families are fleeing their homes in search of safety and shelter in the face of increasing attacks, especially people in situations of greater vulnerability, such as the elderly, children.
Faced with this situation, the 6 NGOs that are part of the Emergency Committee, SOS Children’s Villages, Educo, Doctors of the World, Oxfam Intermón, Plan International and World Vision, have made an appeal to all the parties involved to promote peace and avoid more victims in the armed conflict. For this reason, they have already begun to monitor the consequences and have launched work plans to provide support and save lives as this serious humanitarian crisis unfolds.
Through the Emergency Committee, the 6 NGOs want to jointly channel the help of all those people willing to contribute to alleviate the situation of those affected by the violence in Ukraine and the refugees. The first emergency responses focus on providing shelter, basic humanitarian aid such as food or water, health care, psychological care and child protection, among other lines of action.
The activation of the Emergency Committee also has the collaboration of entities such as Allen&Overy, Allianz Partners, Cecabank, Hazloposible, Migranodearena, Trescom, and the communication groups Atresmedia, Prisa and Vocento.
Many ways to collaborate
The Emergency Committee has enabled different ways to channel aid and be able to provide a faster and more effective response to meet the current needs and those affected by the crisis in Ukraine.
