The economy | Exports of energy products grew by almost 400 percent in May

According to customs’ preliminary data, both exports and imports were clearly on the rise in May.

Finland the export and import of goods clearly increased in May compared to a year ago, according to the preliminary statistics of the Customs. The value of goods exports was almost 7 billion euros, which is more than 30 percent more than in the same period last year.

The value of imports, on the other hand, rose by almost 47 percent and was just over 8 billion.

In May, the trade balance had a deficit of almost 1.2 billion.

The export value of energy products increased by almost 400 percent and the import value by almost 300 percent. According to Customs, this is mainly explained by the rise in the price of energy.

Exports increased considerably to, for example, Britain, the Netherlands and the United States. Imports, on the other hand, increased especially from Norway and Brazil.
