The technology-based company (EBT) of the University of Murcia, Bleecker Technologies, has obtained one of the grants from the Neotec program that the Ministry of Science and Innovation grants through the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI). Of the 575 projects submitted to this Neotec 2021 call, a total of 125 grants have been awarded with the aim of financing the start-up of new business projects that require the use of technologies or knowledge developed from research activity, in which the business strategy is based on the development of technology.
Through this aid, the CDTI has awarded Bleecker Technologies a grant of 227,000 euros for the development of its business project over the next two years. As explained by Félix García Clemente, a researcher at the UMU and one of the promoters of the EBT, “this aid represents essential financial support for the technological development of our solutions based on artificial intelligence and artificial vision, since it will allow us to expand our R&D team with research personnel and, in addition, acquire specialized equipment to advance in the development of new products and prototypes».
Purpose
The aid granted will allow the company to carry out, during the following two years, the design of new visual codes with more advanced features; the development of specialized ‘hardware’ for image processing in industrial environments; the implementation of new sensor systems for work spaces; and the updating of the management and control software of the Bleecker system for the incorporation of new functionality that facilitates the automation of logistics tasks in industrial buildings.
It should be noted that there have been only three technology-based companies in the Region of Murcia that have obtained Neotec aid, one of them the ‘spin-off’ of the University of Murcia.
