The dollar settled near a six-week high on Friday and was on track to record its biggest weekly gain since April.
The dollar index, which measures the US currency against six currencies, reached 101.92 in the latest trading, a level not far from its highest level in six weeks at 102.09, which it touched yesterday, Thursday. The index rose 1.5 percent over the week.
The euro settled at $1.1034 after falling 1.18 percent since the beginning of the week until now.
In the latest trading today, Friday, the British pound reached $1.3131, hovering near its lowest level in three weeks at $1.3093, which it touched yesterday, Thursday.
The New Zealand dollar saw little change at $0.62135, but fell by two percent during the week.
