Eight days have passed and the family of Izan and Rubénthe two children aged five and three who disappeared in Torrent (Valencia), he does not lose hope of being able to find them. At six in the afternoon of that fateful October 29, the flood burst the house where they were playing with their father. The power went out, the water burst through a wall until it flooded the house located next to the ravine and dragged the three downstream. He tried to rescue them but the force of the storm was uncontrollable and he could only climb a tree where he hung for five hours.
The town of Torrent has dedicated itself to the search for the two little ones. Every morning at 10:00 a.m. neighborhood raids are organized that start from the area of The Cullawhere the house was located, and they set out down the river inspecting every detail. In parallel, professionals also comb every centimeter of land. Both civil guards, police officers and firefighters, including volunteers from the Civil Protection Volunteer Group of Sant Antoni de Portmany – Ibiza (Balearic Islands).
Some of the people who have participated in the search of Izán and Rubén during the last few days point out that “they have searched a large part of Barranco del Poyo and its banks but they have not found anything.” «It’s devastating», they point out. “It is an area that no one talks about but it has been completely destroyed,” said another volunteer.
According to family members, the children did not go to school that day and their mother took them to her mother-in-law’s house before leaving for work. Her father picked them up in the afternoon and they went home to wait for her. “When the alert sounded there was no longer a house,” lament some of his relatives who participate in the tireless search. «Izan and Rubén are two very cheerful children, We do not lose hope because it is the last thing to be lost. I hope someone has been able to find them,” explains the little ones’ aunt, Bárbara Sastre, in statements to TVE.
In parallel to the tragedy, the family of the two little ones is having to face misinformation on social networks. He last hoax was denied by the SOS Desaparecidos association, which warned of the circulation on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram of the photograph of a three-year-old minor who was found in Laredo (Mexico), who had been linked to Rubén. «Unfortunately, this is not Rubén, the little boy who disappeared with his brother Izán in Torrent as a result of DANA. It is a case from Mexico which we have serious doubts that is true,” confirmed the president of SOS Desaparecidos, Joaquín Amills.
