ICU admissions continue to drop in one day with 752 new positives in the Region
The decline of the sixth wave already places the cumulative incidence at fourteen days below 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the Region of Murcia. Specifically, it remains at 979.4 cases per 100,000. It is still a very high figure, but everything indicates that the decline will be pronounced in the coming days, since the seven-day rate stands at 357 positives per 100,000.
Health yesterday reported 752 cases corresponding to Monday, compared to 1,052 registered on the same day last week. Of these 752 positives, 245 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 97 to Cartagena, 36 to Lorca, 32 to Molina de Segura, 29 to Cieza, 25 to San Javier, 25 to Ceutí, 24 to Águilas, 23 to Torre Pacheco, 17 to Totana and 16 to La Union. The rest are distributed by other municipalities of the Region.
The decrease in infections translates into an improvement in the situation in hospitals. 311 Covid patients are admitted. Although this represents a slight rebound compared to Monday (ten more hospitalized), the pressure is reduced in the ICU, where 43 patients remain, five less than the previous day. Hospitals such as Reina Sofía and La Arrixaca, which reduced surgical activity due to saturation related to Covid, are recovering 100% of their operating rooms between this week and the next.
Improvement in Primary
Care pressure also falls in Primary Care, which will allow Covid alerts to be deactivated next week. As LA VERDAD announced yesterday, the Murcian Health Service (SMS) considers that the delays for an appointment should not exceed five days in any case, although the Marea Blanca organizations doubt that this objective can be achieved without an increase in resources allocated to this level of care.
Face-to-face activity will fully recover from next week, said the Minister of Health, Juan José Pedreño. In addition, chronic patients who require follow-up will be prioritized.
But, despite the improvement both in Primary and in hospitals, the trickle of deaths from coronavirus continues. Health reported yesterday three other deaths. They are three men between 65 and 87 years of age from health areas I (Murcia West), II (Cartagena) and IV (Northwest). The number of deaths since the start of the pandemic amounts to 2,140 in the Region of Murcia.
Since last week, there are no more restrictions in the Community than the use of the mask indoors and at large outdoor events. Bars, restaurants, celebration rooms and nightlife venues can occupy one hundred percent of their capacity, and customers can consume standing up. Dance floors are also open.
