Egyptian director and actor Mohamed Nabih passed away today, Monday, at the age of 91, after an artistic career that spanned more than six decades, during which he presented prominent films and television series, and was one of the heroes of the iconic movie “The Mummy”.
The Syndicate of Film Professions said in a statement that the funeral of the late artist will take place today, Tuesday, after the noon prayer.
Muhammad Nabih was born in 1930, and his career began as a sound engineer, then he went to photography and montage before taking his first steps in the field of acting with the movie (Government of Qaraqosh) in 1953.
He participated in several films, including (Where is my life), (Voice from the past), (Maa Al-Ayam) and (The Wizard of Women), but the role of antiquities dealer Murad in (The Mummy) directed by Shadi Abdel Salam remained the most prominent mark in his acting career.
After that, he went on to write and direct and presented his first TV movie (A Crime in the Dark), starring Shwikar, Muhammad Tawfiq and Jalal Al-Sharqawi.
In 1988, he directed the movie (You, Me and the Hours of Travel), written by Waheed Hamed and starring Yehia Al-Fakharani and Nelly, and two years later he collaborated again with Nelly in the movie (Adam without a cover) starring Mohamed Sobhi.
On television, he directed the series (The Shalash Family), (There is a Wrong Need), (The Mysterious Man), (Professional Troubles), (The Quiet City) and (Bint Al-Assiouti), in addition to many television nights.
He was honored by the Film Society Festival, the Egyptian Catholic Center for Cinema and many other festivals.
