In July, the creative director of Mario+Rabbids, Davide Solianihad announced his departure from the ranks of Ubisoft after 25 years, 11 of which were dedicated to his exclusive saga for Nintendo Switch.
Now, in a recent update, Soliani has officially announced the birth of his new studio called Day 4 Nightalong with the lead designer and writer of Red Dead Redemption, Christian Cantamessa (also known for his contribution on other projects such as Perfect Dark And Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor).
Together with Soliani and Cantamessa there are also several industry veterans, including some former Ubisoft Milano collaborators who worked on the Mario+Rabbids saga. Ex-Ubisoft people are involved, as co-founders, Cristina Nava, Gian Marco Zanna And Luca Breda.
Day 4 Night is also receiving funding from Krafton (busy on the publication of Palworld on mobile) e 1Up Venturesthe latter from former Xbox co-creator, Ed Friesfor the development of a new IP to be presented in the future.
Below are the words of Soliani (go Nintendo Life):
What we’re creating with Day 4 Night reflects everything I’ve always wanted to experience as a gamer: joy, adventure, poetry, action, wonder, and the pleasure of working with friends. It’s a lullaby for my soul, and at the same time a serenade for our industry. It is a story of triumphs, challenges and dreams to illuminate the path we will take together.
Also Cantamessa released some statements regarding his new study:
At the beginning of my career, when I fell in love with video games, I saw in this medium the power to create and tell stories and worlds never made before that are capable of transforming people. Day 4 Night represents a return to that innovative spirit, that innocence and that unbridled creativity.
Krafton, which among other things acquired Tango Gameworks (the authors of Hi-Fi Rush), highlights how this study has made a statement “original and creative”in line with the publisher’s objectives. Ed Fries, however, stated that the new project is “the most creative thing we’ve seen in a while”.
