The cardiologist warned that too much sugar also leads to atherosclerosis, stroke and heart attack. In this regard, nutritionist Svetlana Titova recommended to carefully monitor the diet and said that purchased products contain a lot of sugar, especially yoghurts, baked goods, drinks and convenience foods. She said cheap sugar raises blood glucose levels faster than natural sweeteners.

Earlier, the chief nutritionist of the Moscow Department of Health, Antonina Starodubova, said that an excess of sugar and trans fats in the body leads to inflammation and Alzheimer’s disease. The specialist explained that an excessive amount of these elements affects the aggravation of chronic inflammatory processes and increases the risk of age-related memory impairment.
