Mexico City.- Tropical storm “Helene” formed 295 km east-southeast of Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Conagua reported.
“This morning, #TropicalStorm #Helene formed. Its center is located 295 km east-southeast of Cozumel, #QuintanaRoo. It will cause #torrential to very heavy #rains in the #YucatanPeninsula,” the National Water Commission reported.
The storm will leave torrential rains in Yucatan and Quintana Roo, as well as heavy rains in Campeche.
The passage of “Helene” will also cause waves of 1 to 3 meters high on the coasts of Quintana Roo and Yucatan.
The Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, said that the prevention zone for the effects of the storm will be maintained from Río Lagartos, Yucatán to Tulum, Quintana Roo, and there will be a surveillance zone from Cabo Catoche to Tulum.
The state government also declared a yellow alert level for the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Isla Mujeres, Lázaro Cárdenas and Puerto Morelos, which means a moderate danger for the population due to the approach of this meteorological phenomenon.
