Yesterday, the Dádoris Foundation held the award ceremony for the seventh edition of its awards to help young people, with limited economic resources and a brilliant academic record, fulfill their dream of achieving university education. In the current 2024-2025 academic year, there are 76 magnificent students who have support from the Foundation. The total amount of the prizes amounts to 381,000 euros, which represents an average contribution of just over 5,000 euros per student.
In all of the seven editions, Dádoris has awarded 349 prizes with a total amount of 1.7 million euros. 55% of the winners of this edition are women and 45% men. 51% are children of Spanish parents and the remaining 49% have an immigrant parent.
Regarding their training, they are studying various degrees, among which Engineering (15), Medicine (10), Law (9), Translation (7), Biotechnology (6) or Physics and Chemistry (5) stand out, as the options more frequent, and they have enrolled in 26 different universities, spread across Spain.
The students were the protagonists of the awards ceremony and shared with the attendees their efforts and their enthusiasm for fulfilling their dreams. The event included the participation of Ana Crespo, president of the Royal Academy of Sciences, the first woman to become director of this institution since its creation in 1847. Crespo represents the values of the Dádoris Foundation: effort, meritocracy, talent, inclusion and solidarity.
Effort and generosity
Pedro Alonso, president and founder of the Dádoris Foundation, asked the recently graduated students “to continue the work that the Foundation is developing and support other people” and the younger ones to commit to “effort and the development of a critical spirit.” Alonso recalled that the Foundation’s task is possible thanks to the generosity of 635 partners and patrons, 35 collaborating companies and 225 volunteers who act as mentors and tutors for the young winners.
