The anti-capitalists summon their leadership for tomorrow to analyze the latest offer from the Government
The CUP has summoned its decision-making bodies to a meeting this Saturday, in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda (Barcelona), from which the position of the anti-capitalists has to come before the latest offer from the Government in the budget negotiation of Catalonia. If the latest attempt by the Catalan Government to approach the theses of the anti-system is substantial, and is interpreted that way by the leadership of the party meeting in an assembly, the leadership will reconvene its bases to decide whether or not to maintain the amendment to the all of the Autonomous Budgets, whose vote is on Monday in the Parliament.
But if the territorial assemblies of the CUP and the group of organizations that make it up conclude, in the meeting of the so-called ‘COP’ (assemblies obertes parlamentàries), that the latest offer from the Government is not enough, the blocking of the accounts will be maintained. In that case, Pere Aragonès will have until Monday to convince the commons to facilitate the processing of Budgets and not be blocked at the first exchange rate. Aragonès will no longer be able to count on the PSC, which this Friday has tired of asking for an appointment with the president and has already registered his amendment to the entirety. The commons, to pressure, have also registered their amendment to the whole.
The CUP sent the Government a document with its demands, which was based on five points: housing, increased tax pressure, large projects such as the expansion of the airport, Hard Rock and the 2030 Olympic Games, Mossos and the referendum. In terms of housing, it is where there can be more rapprochement, since the Catalan Government is willing to reach the figure of one billion of spending on housing policies as demanded by the antisystem.
In the fiscal matter is where the Executive does not see route to the request that the cuperos make to increase the tax burden on income of more than 60,000 euros. The CUP also demands that the Government renounce large projects such as the Hard Rock leisure and tourism complex in Port Aventura or the 2030 winter Olympic bid, but the Catalan administration resists. In terms of security, indirectly, Aragonès has received this Friday a ‘gift’ from a Manresa court, which has acquitted nine young people, who were being processed for a protest at the Lledoners prison on February 1, 2019 during the transfer of the prisoners of 1-O in Madrid for the celebration of the trial. In addition to the Prosecutor’s Office, the Generalitat was requesting jail for them as an accusation in defense of the Mossos agents who were injured in the protest.
And with regard to the referendum, the positions have moved forward and approached. The CUP asks for a referendum before 2025, but in the document it sent to the Government, they demand that Aragonès commit to working to achieve the conditions that allow a referendum on self-determination during this term, in addition to the public commitment to specify the time limit of the dialogue table. Aragonès’ response is to create a working group, which sets the necessary conditions for “the new attack on the State in the form of a referendum.” But without setting the date of the consultation, as requested by the cuperos.
