Apparently, the team had planned to shoot this weekend the death of Lady Di in a car accident in a tunnel in Paris
The death of the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, is a historic moment for both the United Kingdom and the rest of the planet. The Anglo-Saxon country is fully immersed in a process of mourning that affects all levels of society. The audiovisual was not going to be less and, after the farewells by numerous celebrities, now the filming of the series ‘The Crown’ temporarily pauses its activities out of respect for the late monarch and her family.
The filming had moved these days to Barcelona where, apparently, the team was going to recreate the death of Diana of Wales in a car accident in a Paris tunnel. As revealed by SER Catalunya, on Passeig de Gràcia a papier-mâché kiosk with slogans and advertising in French has been seen, along with a large black Mercedes on a crane for film shoots, very similar to the one that crashed into a pillar of the tunnel of the Soul with Diana and her three companions. The operators have dismantled the set of the filming, which was going to take place throughout the weekend, and the actors have returned to the United Kingdom.

Elizabeth II died this Thursday at the age of 96 after 70 years of reign. And, although dozens of films and series have been written collecting parts of her life, without a doubt one of her most important is ‘The Crown’. The award-winning Netflix series covers her entire life from her marriage to Philip of Edinburgh and until, for the moment, the last years of the 20th century with the mandate of Margaret Thatcher and her irruption in the royal family of Lady Di.
‘The Crown’, which has already finished recording its fifth season and is immersed in the production of the sixth and final, will seek to continue the story of Elizabeth II in her last years. But before the event of the queen, they wanted to show respect for the figure that stars in her series. The creator of her, Peter Morgan, has sent an email to the writing of Deadline with the following statement: «’The Crown’ is a love letter to her and I have nothing to add for now, just silence and respect. I hope that, out of respect, we will stop filming as well.”
This decision, in fact, had been meditated for a long time. A few years ago, as the same source collects, producer Stephen Daldry confirmed that “none of us know when that time will come, but it would be right and proper to show respect to the queen. It would be a simple tribute and a show of respect. It is still unknown how long this break will last in the filming of one of the most important series of the last decade. At the moment it will not affect the premiere plans, since the next season to be broadcast, the fifth, is ready and is expected to be released by Netflix next November.
