The Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday the granting of a subsidy worth 500,000 euros to the Autonomous Community for the payment of the aid agreed with the regional Government after the Lorca earthquake in 2011, within the framework of the files to deal with the fifty percent of the expenses derived from the repair, rehabilitation and reconstruction of homes. The subsidy is established in accordance with the amounts reflected in the orders issued by the competent body of the Community.
Within the framework of the processing of these files, the regional government proceeded to review and modify some of the aid recognized in 2018 and issued new resolutions as of December 31 of that year, that is, once the deadline for the resolution of the aid application files established in the last addendum to the agreement signed on May 17, 2011.
The Government of Spain paid 900,000 euros in pending aid in June but there were still 26 files that correspond to cases with errors that have been corrected or of owners who have died and whose descendants have made the change of ownership. These cases total compensation of 233,168 euros that had to be paid to the State and that affect 47 beneficiaries.
The item approved by the Council of Ministers doubles this amount in case there are variations or the payment of interest is required.
The PSOE spokesperson, Diego José Mateos, said that this subsidy “will make it possible to close a crucial stage for the definitive recovery of homes” damaged by the earthquakes. He added that now it is the Government of the Region that has to take the next step so that families see this aid materialized.
He trusted that the López Miras Executive “will be agile” so that the money reaches those affected as soon as possible.
