The PSOE denounces that the Escombreras facilities are “the brand of López Miras and the Murcian PP”
The Autonomous Community recognized yesterday that the economic situation of the company of the Escombreras desalination plant is “critical”, but specified that the project is judicialized and as long as there is no resolution that indicates otherwise, they must keep it in operation, contrary to the opinion of the Intervention of the Community itself, which demands the extinction of the commercial company of the desalination plant, as reported yesterday by LA VERDAD.
For his part, the general secretary of the regional PSOE and delegate of the Government in the Region, José Vélez, yesterday called it “absolute shame” that the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, “does not show his face to apologize to all the Region» for this matter.
In a tweet published shortly after noon, Vélez lamented that «the plot of the Escombreras desalination plant is the best summary of the PP’s management. They have been using the Region for 27 years to enrich themselves with mafia practices at the expense of everyone’s pocket ». For this reason, in his opinion, “López Miras should show his face immediately” and he believes that “the Region needs them to go to the opposition.” Later, to questions from THE TRUTH, the general secretary of the Murcian socialists pointed out that, at the time the Escombreras desalination plant was created, López Miras «would be playing the recorder. But now he should do something more than play the flute », and he asked the president to« assume the responsibility that he has, even if he does not exercise it ».
“In this region there is no government, but a group of irresponsible people who have dedicated themselves to emptying the public coffers,” said Vélez
“The ruin”
Vélez also assured that “López Miras plunges us into ruin” and calculated the cost of the desalination plant for the public coffers at “600 million euros.” Something that “is not only a waste. It is also the brand of López Miras and the PP in the Region. Thus, Vélez wondered “who is going to return that money to the citizens” and also asked if the president “is going to continue hiding.” In the words of Vélez himself, the case of the Escombreras desalination plant is “another scandal that shows that in this region we do not have a government, but rather a group of irresponsible people who do not know how to do the job with a joint and who have dedicated themselves to empty public coffers.
«judicialized»
For its part, the Ministry of Water decided yesterday morning to remain silent regarding the opinion of the Intervention, although late in the afternoon it wanted to explain that “the situation of the desalination plant is judicialized.” The Community, according to sources from the department led by Antonio Luengo, “is working with the utmost caution and with the utmost legal certainty to address this matter, informing the court of each of the movements that are adopted.” The same sources indicate that “the main objective of each decision that is adopted is to avoid damage to the public treasury, although, as long as the situation remains judicialized and as long as there is no resolution that indicates otherwise, the maintenance and indications dictated by the current contract with the Community. The Ministry recognizes that “the economic situation of the Escombreras desalination plant is critical, given the increase in costs and the current percentage of operation of the same”. Therefore, “work is being done and agreements are being adopted to resolve it as soon as possible.”
