Díez de Revenga highlights in the Assembly that the Region is the second autonomy where this crime grew the most last year
The complaints channel against squatters opened by the Autonomous Community last November already received 142 alerts, as announced this Wednesday in the Regional Assembly by the counselor José Ramón Díez de Revenga. The head of Development and Infrastructure appeared at his own request to report “on the defense of private property and measures against the squatting of homes.”
Díez de Revenga presented to the Plenary a “constructive debate” and of “ideas” because the objective he said was to guarantee all the inhabitants of the Region the right to have a home. In this regard, he recalled the aid that the regional administration has launched for rental aid for those affected by the pandemic, which amounts to 16 million euros, 3.1 million for social assistance in housing, the acquisition of twenty houses to house the homeless or living in shacks, as well as the sale of social housing to tenants who have paid rent for them for 25 years.
The counselor maintained that “squatting is a growing phenomenon spurred by certain formations” and maintained that the Region is the second autonomous region where this phenomenon grew the most last year. «There were 282 cases, from January to September, double the number in 2019«.
