It was a private individual who on Saturday at noon found the body at the bottom of a cliff at Punta Segaño, in the town hall of Ares (A Coruña). A large device made up of agents from the Civil Guard and the Regional Police together with the emergency group from the neighboring municipality of Mugardos had been searching for the boy for a day. The minor, 14 years old, had left his house with his mountain bike on Friday after eating and did not return.
After the alert to 112, a team from the Galician Coast Guard Service was in charge of rescuing the body aboard the helicopter. Fishing IIwhile members of the Psychological Intervention Group in Disasters and Emergencies (GIPCE) of the Official College of Psychologists of Galicia traveled to the victim’s home to assist his family. The local government of Ares, the town where the teenager lived, has declared three days of official mourning.
The Civil Guard has opened an investigation into the causes of the minor’s death but, as sources from the armed institute confirmed this Monday, the main hypothesis is that it was due to an accident. The body was found in a steep area that was difficult to access and surrounded by military batteries. For three days, the flags of all municipal buildings in Ares will fly at half-mast and official events have been suspended as a show of “condolence and solidarity” with the family of the deceased minor, who resides in the parish of Chanteiro.
