The vote estimate for the Socialists fell from 32.7% in November to 30.6% in December, while that of the Populares improved from 27.1% to 28.6%, coinciding with the impact of the law of ‘only yes is yes’ and the reform of the Penal Code
The vote estimate for the PSOE drops to 30.6%, according to the latest CIS barometer published this Wednesday. This figure represents a reduction of 2.1 points compared to the barometer for the month of November. Meanwhile, the vote estimate for the PP stands at 28.6% in the last month of the year, which represents an improvement of about one and a half points compared to the previous survey by the Center for Sociological Research. The advantage of the socialists against the popular narrows to just two points.
In the last barometer of the organization headed by Félix Tezanos, the one corresponding to the month of November, the vote estimate for the PSOE was 32.7%, while for the PP it stood at 27.2%. The Socialists’ advantage over the Populares was 5.5 points last month, after having improved from 5 points a month earlier.
The Socialist Party had again overtaken the Popular Party in the CIS barometer for September, after the conservatives had briefly come out on top in July for the first and only time in the legislature.
The last barometer of this 2022 of the Center for Sociological Research is published coinciding with a tense moment of clash between the different powers of the State on account of the justice reform that the Government had promoted and whose vote in the Senate, scheduled for this Thursday , has suspended the Constitutional Court. Although this controversy has not yet had an impact on public opinion measured by the CIS, which does measure, on the other hand, the repercussion of both the reductions in sentences that the entry into force of the ‘only yes is yes’ law has implied, in addition of the reform of the Penal Code promoted by the PSOE and Unidas Podemos with which the crime of sedition is repealed and the crime of embezzlement is modified.
The movements in the rest of the political parties are smaller. Thus, Unidas Podemos rises from 12.2% to 12.4% between November and December; and Vox barely advances from 10.1% to 10.2%. Citizens raises a little more in vote estimate: from 2.5% to 2.9%, but remains below the 3% barrier.
