Javier Hernández played his last game with the Chivas de Guadalajara shirt on March 27, 2010 in the Bicentennial tournament, a championship in which he won the scoring title despite not playing the last days due to injury. The ‘Chicharito’ said goodbye in a big way to Liga MX in his last commitment before signing with Manchester United.
In a duel held at the Jalisco Stadium, the young attacker participated in four of the six goals scored by the Sacred Flock against Santos Laguna. ‘Chicharito’ scored the fourth goal of the night and gave two assists (he assisted Omar Arellano and Marco Fabián), caused Jonathan Lacerda’s own goal and also generated a penalty that Héctor Reynoso charged.
Almost 12 years after the legendary exhibition of ‘Chicharito’ Hernández, this was the XI presented by José Luis Real, then coach of Chivas de Guadalajara, in this round victory:
Luis Michel was the starting goalkeeper for Chivas in the last duel of ‘Chicharito’ with Guadalajara. The goalkeeper was part, just a few months later, of the Mexican National Team that played in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He played 297 games with the Sacred Flock.
Esparza was in charge of playing as a right back in the last official duel of ‘Chicharito’ with Chivas. The under-17 world champion could not consolidate with the Sacred Flock, he played 215 games with the rojiblancos, and tried his luck with San Luis, Pachuca and Tampico Madero.
The Mexican central defender arrived at Chivas at the beginning of 2009 from Eintracht Frankfurt. Galindo did not have a very prominent or long journey with Chivas de Guadalajara. He played as a starter in the last official duel of ‘Chicharito’ with the rojiblancos.
‘Sansón’ Reynoso is a historic Chivas de Guadalajara. The central defender played 385 official duels with the rojiblancos. After playing with the Flock, he played with Leones Negros and Monarcas Morelia.
Mejía was part of the starting lineup in Javier Hernández’s last duel at the Rebaño Sagrado. The ‘Chore’ never lived up to the expectations that were held of him and he retired at the age of 30.
Jonny Magallón is one of the most remembered defenders of this Chivas de Guadalajara era. The defender was a World Cup player in South Africa 2010. The defender played 250 games with Chiverío. He later tried his luck in León, Mineros de Zacatecas and Lanús.
The Mexican midfielder was part of the starting eleven in the match against Santos Laguna. Patricio Araujo played 325 duels with the Sacred Flock. He later passed through Puebla and Celaya. Currently, at 34, he has no team.
The ‘Deer’ was a player of ups and downs. His level gave him to be summoned for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa a few months later. Medina played 318 duels with the rojiblancos. He tried his luck in Puebla, Coras de Tepic, Alebrijes, Pachuca, Chiapas and Tapatío.
Adolfo Bautista is a history of Guadalajara. The ‘Bofo’ was taking his second or third wind with the rojiblancos. In this duel, the striker provided a couple of assists in the win against Santos Laguna.
Arellano scored 2-2 in this match against Santos Laguna. The attacker, unfortunately, never reached his full potential. Injuries curtailed his promising career. He played 176 duels with the red and white shirt. He later tried his luck in Monterrey, Herediano, Querétaro, Toluca, Pachuca, Tampico Madero and Leones Negros.
What else can be said about ‘Chicharito’? The Mexican striker had an outstanding step in Europe with Manchester United, fulfilled during his brief stay at Real Madrid, found his best football level at Bayer Leverkusen and experienced ups and downs with West Ham and Sevilla. He currently plays for the LA Galaxy, where he is taking on the role of figurehead.
