who started a new business in the midst of the pandemic it was quite a challenge and even more so if they continue in force and with the curtains up.
In Mexico the entrepreneurs and new businesses represent a great contribution to the economy, small and medium-sized companies are the largest generators of job in the country, 72% of total employment in Mexico and 52% of gross domestic product.
Entrepreneurs are a bastion of the economy of thousands of families and give support and stability to Mexico.
Unfortunately thousands of companies and businesses had to close recently, but in the midst of the crisis some perceived opportunities to initiate and undertake new projects.
In the last two years, the companies and businesses that managed to stay afloat, made their “August” and did very well were those related to technology, electronic commerce, automobiles, telecommunications, online payments, entertainment through digital platforms, software, pharmaceuticals, drinks and food at home.
They innovated, were creative, evolved, undertook projects and found new market niches to sell their products and services.
What characterizes the entrepreneur? His creativity takes risks, finds opportunities where others do not see them, innovates, creates, develops.
They are keywords that many people put into practice.
But something that characterizes these new ventures is that they are in an informal economy, in Mexico 55.7% of the population that works does so informally, this means that they do so without protection that fully guarantees their labor rights, or that is, without contracts, without access to housing, without access to the health system, working hours greater than the limit according to labor laws and with income that varies.
A good part of the labor informality is found in sectors such as services, retail trade, the manufacturing industry, work at home and in the field.
As we can see in our country, there is still much to be done to reduce informality and provide job and health security for workers and permanence in the market for new companies and businesses.
There are no long-term programs and projects that go beyond the 6 years of a government that manage to create solid foundations to gradually reduce the informal economy.
Programs of incentives for formalization are necessary, basic actions for the social protection of workers and companies, training and education for new companies, a new labor legal framework and the consolidation of labor inspection, to name a few proposals.
A national employment formalization program is required in which governments, academia, businessmen, non-governmental organizations participate, in order to simplify the methods and forms that encourage the formalization of new businesses.

Our country requires sustained economic growth that has strong roots that can withstand any gale of global crisis. We are still suffering from the economic effects of the pandemic and it will take a few more years to recover a little what was lost.
It is urgent to address the crisis that small and medium-sized companies are experiencing, we need a new framework that promotes stable and robust growth, and that generates the formal jobs that Mexico requires.
