Ciudad Juarez.- Preparations for the patronal feast of San Lorenzo, which is celebrated on August 10, began both at the sanctuary and in its surroundings from today, Thursday.
Since yesterday afternoon, traffic was closed on the surrounding streets by the Road Safety Coordination, only allowing access to residents of the area and merchants; the closure will take place until the evening of next Sunday, August 11.
A stand for the popular festival, selling handicrafts and Mexican snacks, as well as mechanical games, is also being set up.
Today, Thursday at 6 pm, a Holy Hour will be held for the sick and elderly, according to the program announced by the Sanctuary.
Tomorrow, Friday, August 9, at 8:00 p.m., a pilgrimage will be held leaving the park in the Alameda subdivision in front of the Galgodromo towards San Lorenzo, and at 10:00 p.m. there will be a Holy Mass outside the Sanctuary.
On Saturday, August 10, it begins at 12:00 am or 00:00 hours, with Midnight Mass in the Temple, and masses throughout the day at the following times: 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
On Sunday, August 11, masses will be held at the usual time and the rides and sales in the plaza in front of the sanctuary will remain in place.
During these days, thousands of faithful Catholic devotees of the Patron Saint will visit the church with candles to give thanks for the favors they have received.
The dancers or “Matachines” who perform their dances to the rhythm of drums and guajes on the esplanade or outside the temple cannot be missing either.
