The Catalan TSJ acquits Dani Alves of sexual aggression after revoking his conviction

The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has revoked the conviction of four and a half years of jail to footballer Daniel Alves for sexual assault on a young woman at the Sutton disco in Barcelona and has acquitted the player. The player already remains provisional since last March.

The Appeals section of the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the TSJC has resolved the resources that the prosecution, the victim and the defense of the player presented against the judgment of the Barcelona hearing of February 2024. The Catalan high court concludes that the initial judgment of the case presents “a series of gaps, inaccuracies, inconsistencies and contradictions on the facts, the legal assessment and its consequences”.

The resolution considers that the revocated judgment has evaluative deficits that prevent “the assessment of the court of instance or the conclusion that reaches” on sexual aggression.
