A truly heartbreaking story
Today we want to tell you the sad and heartbreaking story of Murchyk, the cat who survived the bombs in Ukraine and that he had lost his family. Just as he was about to re-embrace his human affections, however, the feline died reaching the Rainbow bridge. He couldn’t survive and never saw them again.
Surely Murchyk has over time become a symbol of war in Ukraine. And in particular of the resistance of the city of Borodianka, besieged by Russian troops and constantly bombed. The discovery of him in the rubble allowed us to rekindle the beacon of hope.
It had been some reporters who had found him right between rubble from his home in Borodianka. He was battered, his face burned and his fur all messed up. An animal battered by Russian bombs that in the shot made famous around the world by a photographer continues to keep its feline gaze proud and proud.
Of the Murchyk cat almost nothing was known. At first no one knew his name, his story, whether he had a family or not. And especially if his human family, in case he had one, had survived the bombing or not.
The surviving cat had found a home at the Ministry of Interior, who had taken his story to heart. Here she had food, water and a home. And thanks to the tireless appeals of those who looked after him, they had also found the owner.
Farewell to Murchyk, a cat who survived the bombs in Ukraine
Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the Ministry of the Interior, had managed to find his owner, discovering not only her name but also the fact that she had a family.
He was about to finally hug his human mom who was running to him, when sadly the cat died. Doctors attempted to save his life, but without success.
