With the spirit and desire in style, the new president of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena, Tomás Sánchez Ojaos, presented yesterday, Thursday, the members of his new management team and the essential points of his program for the next three years. That is the time that remains at the head of the neighborhood group, once he took the reins after the resignation of the previous president, Sonia Montoya, who was a year. Adding neighborhood groups from other municipalities in the region to achieve greater weight, claim better road infrastructure, more security both in the city and in the neighborhoods and councils, as well as having decent health services are the main objectives that are set.
But if there is something that stands out about his arrival at the Federation, made up of almost 90 associations, it is the change of course that he has given him, since he has replaced the vast majority of the members of the previous board of directors. Now more than half are women.
Another novelty in this sense is that in the 25 positions there are not only neighborhood representatives, but also other social groups, such as the Association of Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Trans Activists of Cartagena (Galactyco), the Federation of Women and the Huerto de San Antón Association. He will represent the first Sergui Magüez; the second, Clara Heredia, named member of Mujer; and the third is Juani Martínez, vice president of the neighborhood group.
Board of the Mar Menor
Along with Sánchez Ojaos will also be treasurer Juan Manuel de Haro, president of the Association of Neighbors of La Algameca; and Juan Víctor del Pozo repeats as a member of Health and Health. José Antonio Moreno and Isabel Belmonte, from the neighborhood groups of Playa Paraíso and Cabo de Palos, respectively, will be in charge of emphasizing matters related to the Mar Menor. Also noteworthy is the Regional Relations plot, which will be in the hands of María del Carmen Marín. That is precisely what the new president of the federation wants to promote, who is a social educator, is 48 years old and until mid-January served as president of the San Diego-Historic Quarter Neighborhood Association. He works at Autism Somos Todos.
“My intention is to incorporate more associations from outside the municipalities of the region, because together we can join forces and achieve improvements, for example, on the roads that connect us,” said Sánchez Ojaos. The presentation of its board of directors and its ideas to improve the lives of residents took place at the social premises of the Urbanization Mediterráneo.
