The fifteenth edition of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia was crowned last Saturday with the concluding gala of the Carrera Cup Night at the Porsche Experience Center Franciacorta, where the tricolor flagship dedicated to the 911 GT3 Cup awarded the 2021 Champions.
During the ceremony the merit was awarded to Alberto Cerqui, the driver from Brescia who at the wheel of the 911 GT3 Cup of the Q8 Hi Perform Team won the overall standings, graduating for the first time champion of the tricolor single-make car in front of Alessandro Giardelli (Dinamic Motorsport – Centro Porsche Bologna) and Gianmarco Quaresmini (Tsunami RT – Centro Porsche Brescia).
In Michelin Cup, Marco Cassarà celebrated his second personal title after that of 2019. The Roman driver of Raptor Engineering – Centro Porsche Catania preceded Alex De Giacomi (Tsunami RT – Centro Porsche Brescia) and Francesco Maria Fenici (AB Racing – Porsche Centers of Rome), while in the Silver Cup first center for Massimiliano Montagnese and Team Malucelli – Porsche Center Catania. Finally, in the 2021 classification reserved for teams, recognition for Dinamic Motorsport.
During the ceremony, a space was also dedicated to the awards of the previous season, starting with the overall winner Simone Iaquinta, who was thus able to celebrate the 2020 title after last year it was not possible to organize the final event.
The evening at the Porsche Experience Center Franciacorta, specially set up and increasingly a multifunctional resource in the activities of Porsche Italy, was conducted by the well-known faces of Sky Sport Federica Masolin and Matteo Bobbi and also hosted the heads of the various Porsche Centers involved in the single-brand and official partners.
Introducing the awards, the CEO of Porsche Italy Pietro Innocenti he pointed out: “In recent years the Carrera Cup Italia has grown a lot thanks above all to the work of the Porsche Italia Motorsport team and to all the staff of the series, which is now like a family. This growth has also involved drivers, teams, technicians, new and consolidated partners and our dealers. Today the Carrera Cup Italia is an increasingly popular championship capable of attracting and thrilling. We are really happy that among the eleven Carrera Cups competing in the world it is the first for the number of participants: this year it reached the record of 34 cars on the grid with the participation of 16 teams and 20 Porsche Centers. I can assure you that we will do our best to further grow this beautiful competition, which this season has reached 15 editions and in the next one is ready to welcome the debut of the new generation of the 911 GT3 Cups “.
