Pasqualino Palombaro, a fifty-five-year-old restaurateur from Tollo, took his own life from the Salle bridge
People can take extreme actions and leave friends and loved ones in despair. Sometimes, before these choices, there are alarm bells, but in many other cases this does not happen. Unfortunately yesterday, a well-known Italian restaurateur took his own life by jumping from a bridge. After the fall, medical and mountain rescue assistance was useless. The community of Tollo rallies around the family of Pasqualino Palombaro.
Pasqualino Palombaro, a 55-year-old man, resident in Tollo, a small Italian town in the province of Chieti, tragically took his own life. The alarm went off on Wednesday 17 April around 9:00 in the morning. The first to alert the police were two passers-by who noticed a car parked along the roadway on the Salle bridge, known as the suicide bridge. Approximately tall 100 metresi, this bridge has been at the center of many other events like this in the past.
The police intervened immediately and, after an initial inspection, alerted both 118 and the mountain rescue service, as well as the fire brigade and the air ambulance. Unfortunately for Pasqualino Palombaro there was nothing that could be done. Known throughout the area, and also regionally and nationally for his activities, he leaves many friends and relatives in pain. Pasqualino he has always worked in the world of catering. The restaurant “The masks” first located in Tollo and, a few years ago, moved to Corso Manthonè a Pescarawas renowned for its gourmet cuisine.
Pasqualino leaves a wife, Graziana Carinci employee of Poste Italiane in an office in Pescara, and a 20 year old son Paul, undergraduate. Thanks to his way of being, Pasqualino was loved by everyone, and many are showing their affection with sweet messages. Among these, the mayor of Tollo, Angelo Radica:
“Paolo was a quiet, serious person, very close to his family, he never gave any sign that could lead one to think of such a thing. A month and a half ago I was at the restaurant, we talked about wines, many things, he was always smiling”
A man of value, a restaurateur of great courtesy who managed his restaurant with competence and kindness, so much so that, over time, many customers had also become friends.
