The City Council of Yecla, through the Department of Social Policy, Equality, Women and Family, directed by the mayor Patricia Soriano, held a series of events focused on the commemoration of International Women’s Day 8M, with the aim of making visible the role of women in various fields and promote the values of equality in society.
The finishing touch to this program of activities was a gala and act of recognition for people and entities at the Concha Segura theater, held on March 11. Among the winners, the Yeclana Mar Verdú stands out in the business field. He is CEO of Ferretería Verdú and, together with his brother Joaquín de él, is one of the most outstanding businesswomen in the Altiplano region, as evidenced by the distinction awarded by the local Administration.
«This recognition is closely related to the presence of women in my company and even to the performance of positions of high responsibility carried out by women in a sector, that of the hardware store, which has traditionally been attributed to men. At Verdú, we are aware of this, and we fully value, and without distinction, both the work of women and men; Proof of this are the equality or work-life balance plans that we put in place a long time ago in our industry”, explained the award-winning Mar Verdú, after receiving the mention on the occasion of 8M, while taking advantage of her speech to thank the Mayor of Yecla, Remedios Lajara, and Councilor Patricia Soriano to think of her and Ferretería Verdú for this recognition.
Because Ferretería Verdú promotes equal opportunities between women and men, guaranteeing equal pay, favoring the reconciliation of work and family life, and promoting the access of female talent to positions of responsibility. Precisely, her human team is made up, apart from Mar Verdú, by other directors who hold high positions, such as Elena Ortega, financial director, and María José Hernández, director of human resources.
