Few surprises on the first day of the general strike of urban, interurban and tow truck drivers. This morning, coinciding with rush hour, long queues have been recorded at the main bus stations in the major capitals, where different minimum services have been set based on that 50% at the state level that was published yesterday by the Ministry of Transport and Mobility Urban.
For example, in Catalonia they are 40% at rush hour and 20% the rest; in San Sebastián many lines will be canceled; in the Balearic Islands they will be between 50% and 60%; in Navarra 60% during peak hours and 40% the rest. In Madrid, for its part, the service obligation is 75% for EMT buses until 9:30 in the morning and 50% the rest of the day. In the case of intercity routes there will be 80% service during peak hours, which will drop to 45% the rest of the day. As has already been said, despite the extensive guaranteed minimum services, in the first hours at the interchanges – especially in Madrid – there have been long queues.
All this, because the strike has been a success. In a statement today, CCOO, UGT and SLT have celebrated that the monitoring has been “total”, they said, also among the other unions of the union.
As reported by the sector’s employers, there have been some incidents caused by the pickets. «So far there are around thirty broken windows.which is preventing these vehicles from performing the corresponding services,” they said in a statement.
These mobilizations, which affect urban, interurban, discretionary and school passenger transport, come after negotiations in the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA) failed last Thursday.
In addition to this Monday’s strike, others will be held on November 11, 28 and 29 and December 5, 9 and 23, with the unions announcing that the strike will become indefinite as of December 23. if their demands are not met.
