Data for Thursday 14 October. The current total positives fall below the 80,000 mark. The positivity rate drops to 0.8% (yesterday 1%) with 324,614 swabs. The trend of the curve keeps going down slowly. Admissions: -73. Intensive care: -8
I am 2,668 new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday there were 2,772, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 4,709,753 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 40 (yesterday there were 37), for a total of 131,461 victims from February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are altogether 4,498,924 And 3.709 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (4,827 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 79,368, equal to -1,083 compared to yesterday (-2.095 the day before).
The swabs and the scenario
THE total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 324.614, which is 45,669 more than yesterday when there were 278,945. While the positivity rate drops to
0.8% (the approximation of 0.82%); yesterday it was 1%. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.
Less infections in 24 hours than yesterday. The weekly peak of the swinging curve occurred yesterday, however a peak below the 3,000 threshold. A good sign, besides the fact that the current total positives (now 79,368) fall below the threshold of 80 thousand, as written above. From the comparison with last Thursday (7 October) – the same day of the week – when they were recorded +2,938 cases with a 1% positivity rate we see that the trend of the curve remains slow downIn fact, today there are fewer new infections than that day, with a lower percentage (0.8% versus 1%).
All the indicators of the epidemic are decreasing. This was revealed by the latest independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation on a weekly basis (6-12 October): -13.5% new cases compared to the week before, -14.5% deaths (equal to 266 against the previous 311), -10.2% for ordinary hospitalizations and -14.5% for intensive care.
According to the weekly report from Altems (High School of Economics and Management of Health Systems of the Catholic University), Sicily is the region with the highest mortality (ratio of deaths to population) (0.85%), followed by Tuscany (0.65%) and Basilicata (0.55%), compared to a value of 0.38% nationwide.
The health system
Hospital stays in each area decrease for the third consecutive day. The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I’m -73 (yesterday -113), for a total of 2,479 hospitalized. The beds occupied in intensive care (TI) are -8 (yesterday -3) – this is the balance between the people who left and those who entered ICU -, bringing the total of the most seriously ill patients to 359, with 22 entrances to resuscitation (yesterday 19).
The vaccinated
The vaccine doses administered are over 86.8 millions. Citizens who have received the second dose are over 43.5 millions (80.63% of the population over 12). 45.8 million people (85.11% of vaccinables) received a single dose, while over 435,000 had the additional dose. Here the map updated every evening and here the real-time data of the anti Covid-19 vaccines report on the government website.
