He Plenary session of the Miengo City Council has approved the municipal budget for 2025, which amounts to 8.4 million euros, with ten votes in favor of PP, PRC and EQUO, and three abstentions from PSOE and Vox. As explained in a statement by the municipal spokesperson, Elena Castillo (PP), The document includes more than three million euros of treasury remainders for investments in infrastructure and “an outstanding attention to the social needs of neighbors.”
Furthermore, he noted that the budget “balances strategic investments and social support, prioritizing the most vulnerable.” In this sense, will allocate 80,000 euros to social initiatives, including financial aid for low-income families. More than two million euros will be allocated to improve the road network, sports facilities or supply and sanitation systems. Likewise, a plan will be implemented to reorganize traffic in beach areas and improve mobility, in collaboration with the University of Cantabria.
An investment of almost 100,000 euros will allow the preservation of the Sala Robayera and its dissemination through a traveling exhibition. In addition, 210,000 euros will be allocated to projects that promote culture, sports and education, such as the recovery of cycling routes and the cultural activities ‘Artists in the Plaza’ and the Agri-Food Fair, among others.
Also collects measures to protect the natural environment, such as the conservation of the dune range and the reforestation of green areas. And there is an item of 70,000 euros for conciliation programs in non-school periods. According to Castillo, the budget “is the result of dialogue between political groups and reinforces the commitment to comprehensive and sustainable development of Miengo.” In this sense, he has stressed the “importance of co-responsibility and collaboration to build a more prosperous and equitable municipality.”
