The Brotherhood of the Curia inaugurated its headquarters on Monday, located in the Plaza del Caño, next to the Bar Association and a few meters from the Collegiate Church of San Patricio, from where its procession leaves. The new premises, one hundred square meters, will allow the brotherhood to keep its heritage and develop its activities related to Holy Week.
El Paso Negro was the only brotherhood in Lorca that lacked its own headquarters and has now leased the premises with an option to purchase from the Bar Association. Its president, Diego Domínguez, stressed that “after a long and difficult road” the new headquarters is “an optimal and worthy place” for the Curia,
The mayor, Diego José Mateos, who visited the facilities accompanied by the deputy mayor, Francisco Morales, and by the councilor for Holy Week, José Luis Ruiz, promised to “seek collaboration formulas” that allow the Curia to acquire ownership of the premises
El Paso also presented four premiere tunics, embroidered in gold on black velvet in Silvia Teruel’s workshop, for the banner bearers and lantern bearers of the banner of the Virgen de la Soledad, directed by Emiliano Rojo in 1950. Domínguez stressed that the embroidery of the tunics reproduces the original border of the banner.
