This isn’t so much a new Ferrari – more of a love letter to Maranello’s coupes of the 1950s and 1960s. We won’t name names, but Ferrari 500 Superfast. You’re looking at the Ferrari BR20, the latest in a long line from Special Projects. Ferrari also builds only one copy of this and it is completely tailor-made to the wishes of a loyal customer. You wouldn’t expect it so quickly, but this car is based on a Ferrari GTC4Lusso with a V12. The twelve-cylinder is in the front and produces 690 hp.
Where the GTC4Lusso can accommodate four people, the Ferrari BR20 delivers its shooting brakelines for a coupe shape. We’re looking at you too, Ferrari 410 Superamerica. The air intakes above the rear wheel arches are a clear nod to a more modern coupé, the 599 GTB Fiorano. The four-wheel drive of the Lusso is also coming to the BR20. The 0-to-100 time is therefore only 3.4 seconds. By the way, this system uses two gearboxes. The front has only two stages and disengages itself above fourth gear; then the BR20 becomes a rear-wheel drive.
Many new parts for the Ferrari BR20
According to Ferrari, the list of unique elements for this BR20 is ‘almost endless’. Headlights, taillights, bumpers; they are all unique to this one one off. The interior is upholstered in dark brown Heritage Testa di Moro leather and features an oak finish and carbon fiber inserts. The rear seat is now a nice place for your luggage.
Ferrari says this BR20 was designed ‘for a loyal customer who was deeply involved in every step of its creation. The BR20 represents a true interpretation of the traditional art of coachbuilding.” Realizing a one-off takes about a year at Ferrari. The price of this Ferrari BR20 is still unknown, but keep in mind that you need the budget of a ‘loyal Ferrari customer’ to be able to afford it.
