The national junior badminton team is participating in the West Asian Championship competitions, which will be held in the Omani capital, Muscat, from October 7 to 12, at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
The participating teams will be divided into two groups, after which the first and second from each group will qualify for the knockout rounds, and the tournament categories will be classified within the regional championships of the Asian Badminton Federation.
The tournament targets the under-15 and under-17 categories, in male singles, male doubles, female singles, and female doubles, in addition to mixed doubles.
The team delegation is headed by Noura Al Jasmi, President of the Badminton Federation, Vice President of the Asian Federation, and Member of the Executive Office of the Olympic Council of Asia. The delegation includes Mahmoud Tayfour, coach of the national team, Suhad Owais, coach of the female team, and 8 male and female players: Abdulaziz Yahya, Abdulrahman Fouad, and Mayed. Tariq, Mayed Saeed, Dana Ahmed, Sheikha Salem, Futtaim Mohammed, and Maryam Ahmed Al-Hamid.
